Our Retreat

Our Renovated Villa in Provence 2012

Accommodations. You will be staying in a beautifully restored 12th century monastery located in the foothills of Mt. Ventoux.  It’s located just 2km from the village of Malaucène, a mecca for cyclists from around the world. Access to our daily rides or runs is directly from our hotel.  Training swims will be in a calm nearby lake or outdoor lap pool.

The villa’s comfortable bedrooms offer views of the foothills and vineyards. Amenities include Italian-style bathrooms,  outdoor swimming pool, multiple terraces, outdoor yoga and stretching platform, wine atelier and Wi-Fi.

The Food. All of our breakfasts and most of our group dinners will be served at our villa,  freshly prepared by our hosts.  Fruit and vegetables are sourced locally from the surrounding groves or private garden.  4-course dinners are typical Provencal and Mediterranean style.  Vegetarian options are available.   Weather permitting, dinners will be taken ‘al fresco’ on the terrace.

There is also an ‘honesty bar’ by the pool stocked with beer, wine and spirits.

About Dave Scott. Dave Scott is one of the most sought after coaches in the sport of triathlon.  Currently Dave coaches several elite triathletes including one of the top female athletes in the sport, Chrissie Wellington.   Dave’s infectious drive and unlimited energy for teaching and sharing his fitness knowledge are invaluable.  In addition to the intimate environment to train and essentially live with Dave for the week,  we’ll have several talks where Dave shares his secrets on training and racing faster, stronger and smarter.

This special trip is limited to 15 guests. Registration closes on March 1, 2012 or as space permits.

FAQs

  1. Is this trip limited to elite or advanced athletes? Definitely not! This trip is for amateur cyclists or triathletes of all levels who have a passion for their sport and a desire to learn and have fun.  On the longest ride days, we’ll offer at least one shorter option and SAG support.
  2. May I bring a spouse? Yes, non-triathlete/non-cycling guests are welcome to enjoy vacation, the facilities, the talks and France.  Provence is a beautiful region where you can explore, write, read or watch the world go by.   Our hosts, Jude and Philip, are available to organize for you additional activities such as wine tastings or cooking classes.  There is a 5% discount for a non-participating spouse.
  3. I’m afraid I won’t be fast enough for the rides or runs? Not to worry.  We will likely split  into 2 or more groups for the rides and runs to accommodate different paces.  We also have the SAG.  If you are still worried, give us a call and we can assess whether the trip is right for you.
  4. It’s an aggressive week, can I take a day off? Absolutely.  All activities are optional and you’re free to chill  all or any part of the day.
  5. What is the last day to register? We will close registration at 15 people or by March 1, 2012 (whichever is earlier).  Please feel free to email us (info@ridestrongbiketours.com) if you would like to ‘save a space’ but need a week to work out the details.
  6. Can I rent a bike? Yes, there are high quality road bike rentals available in Malaucene.  Please let us know at registration of your preference to rent and we will provide you with details.
  7. How do we get to Avignon? The easiest way to get to and from Avignon is fly in and out of Paris and take the high-speed TGV train directly from Charles de Gaulle airport.  Alternatively, Marseille is the closest international airport and you can take a train or taxi to Avignon.
