Overview

France’s natural border with Spain — the Pyrénées — is the battleground for the final week of mountain stages in the 2012 Tour de France.  Every summer, when the snow thaws and mountain passes open, the Pyrénées transform into a cycling paradise with long slow climbs and an endless maze of scenic roads.   With this backdrop of natural beauty and the bite of high cols, it’s the perfect setting for the final week of the greatest professional cycling event on earth!   On our trip, you will ride and watch the last week of the Tour’s mountain drama unfold on our guided and fully-supported trip.

Accommodations.

We have secured our favorite mountain Chambres d’Hotes and Hotels de Charme for this trip. Enjoy authentic French living with stylish amenities, gracious hosts, hearty breakfasts and amazing 3-course dinners (including wine).

St.-Girons.  After Toulouse, we’ll spend three nights in the wild Ariege region of the Pyrénées where we have exclusive use of our beautifully restored 19th century farmhouse, La Bastide, complete with swimming pool and panoramic views of the Pyrénéan chain. Rated ’4-cles’ we’ll enjoy local mountain luxury and gracious hosts.

Bagneres-du-Luchon. The last three nights we’ll stay in an equally charming hotel ideally located in Bagneres-du-Luchon, the mecca of the TdF activities.  Our hotel is across from the thermal spas located on the Stage 16 finish and Stage 17 route.  You’ll enjoy the options to walk to the cafes, wine bars or the stage start!   Our trip ensures that all rides will be directly from our hotels with no transfers other than to and from Toulouse.

The Ride Strong Style.

This tour is designed with an obsessive attention to route design.  You’ll also be treated to multiple nights in our one-of-a-kind hotels, authentic cuisine and, of course, some of the best riding of the Tour.  With our knowledgeable local guides, we’ll cycle roughly 70-110 km each day, eating well and sleeping even better!  This is a guided, fully-supported and well-designed trip.  However, we can’t push your pedals…  to fully enjoy this tour you must be a fit cyclist capable of riding the daily distances over HILLY terrain.  This is an exclusive tour with no more than 14 participants.
