A Climber’s Paradise - L’Alpe d’Huez, Columbiere, Galibier & More!
Bike tours in the Alps are the cycling equivalent to running the Boston Marathon; only around every new turn, you’ll find another category col boasting drop dead views of snow-spotted peaks.
Nearly a hundred years of Tour de France cycling history is painted on the pavement and living in the limestone massifs rising dramatically from lush valley floors of the French Alps. Every summer, ski stations close and a cycling phenomenon begins with a camaraderie of international cyclists donning colorful jerseys spinning the summits of Alpe d’Huez, Col du Galibier and Col du Columbiere, while local riders and pros are down training on the secret (and seriously steep) stuff like the Col Luitel, in Grenoble’s backyard.
These are all ordinary people with an appetite for extraordinary cycling. Our bike tours in the French Aps have three things in common: amazing scenery, unforgettable food and sustained steep climbing!
